VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL
JULY 2, 1928
The Regular Meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Monday, July 2, 1928
Present – Thos E. Beck, President, Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees. W.F.
Chadbourne, Clerk
Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M.
Street Com. Clements reported that he had placed speed limit signs at each end of the Village limits
calling for 25 mile limits of speed while passing through the village and asked the council if it should
be enforced. The Council agreed unanimously that it should be enforced.
The question of appointing a Village Attorney was also discussed. The Pres and E.E. Scott were
appointed to confer with some Atty in the Village in regard to the matter.
It was moved and declared carried that the Village Ordinances be printed in pamphlet from 500
copies to be printed.
On motion duly made and declared carried another street light was ordered installed on Minnesota
Street in Hastings Addition. There being at present only one light on that street.
Report of the Fire Convention was given by the Fire Chief Ayers who represented
the E.R. Fire Dep’mt of Elk River at Fergus Falls.
Report of Annual Convention of the League of Minn. Municipalities held at Brainerd was given by
Pres. Beck who represented Elk River at the convention.
