08-10-1928 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 10, 1928 A Special meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Friday August 10, 1928. Present – Thomas E. Beck, President, George Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees. W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M. This meeting was called for the purpose of acting upon Application for for the Erection of a Village Hall. The following resolution was offered by L.L. Bishop Trustee who moved its adoption. Resolved by the governing body of the Village of Elk River in the County of Sherburne State of th Minnesota, at the duly called meeting thereof, legally held on the 10 day of August 1928 a quorum being present, that in its opinion it is expedient to issue to the State of Minnesota the bonds of Raid Village of Elk River to the aggregate amount of 7500.00 for the following purpose 7500.00 for the Erection of a Village Hall to hear interest at the rate of four per centum per annum, to mature and to be of the respective number and amounts as hereafter set forth 1. One bond for the sum of 500.00 payable July 1, 1934 2. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1935 3. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1936 4. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1937 5. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1938 6. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1939 7. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1940 8. One bond for the sum of 1000.00 payable July 1, 1941 That the proposition of issuing said bonds be submitted to the election of said Village of Elk River th at a Special Election to be held therein on the 5 day of Sept. 1928 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and that due notice thereof be given as required by law. This motion was duly seconded by George Cornelius Trustee a member of said governing body and being put to a vote prevailed. 5 yas – no nays On motion duly made and declared carried the Clerk was instructed until further notice and meter installed to charge the Twin City Milk Co 15.00 per quarter instead of 60.00 heretofore charged this to the past quarter for water rent. Motion made and declared carried that a meter be installed at the Twin City Co creamery immediately. The Street com. Reported that they had made arrangements with the Barrett Co. to furnish and apply Tarvia on Main St from Ferry St to Depot St. or Highway for 1000.00. The Village to prepare St. and furnish gravel and labor to complete job. On motion St. Com W.H. Clements was appointed by the Council to look after this job of work on Main Street.
