10-01-1928 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 1, 1928 th A special meeting of the Village Council was held on Saturday, Sept. 29 1928 at the Library Room. Present – Thomas E. Beck, Pres., Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8:30 P.M. The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. Star News printing 9.70 E.R. Power and Light Co repairs on st. lights 15.20 Fred Ayers labor on water works 22.00 H.R. Caley Hdw Co goods for fire barn 1.50 Kliever Bros cutting out tree at hall 15.00 E.R. Fire Dept attending fire Bert Glidden 15.00 Middlestadt Bros fixing water main 5.40 L.L. Bishop goods for Fred Shultz 6.34 W.H. Clements st. work 77.30 Chris Anderson grading at village hall 29.70 Chas. Roggatz grading at village hall 59.40 A Ousley grading at village hall 39.60 W.H. Clements grading at village hall 65.40 Arthur Youse grading at village hall 35.70 The council next proceeded to make up the budget for the coming year. After listening to the financial report from the clerk and estimating the amount necessary to be raised the following resolution was offered by the Village Clerk. Resolved that the following amounts be assessed to finance the Village for the following year for the purpose named. Revenue Fund 8000.00 Road and Bridge Fun 2000.00 Bond and Interest 4000.00 Library Fund 200.00 Poor Fund 200.00 Music 2 mill tax voted The motion was seconded by E.E. Scott Trustee and declared carried by the Pres. The clerk reported that Cavanagh Bros had signed the contract for building the new village hall, and had already commenced excavating. It was unanimously agreed that we have a new ballot box to replace the old ones which were a nuisance. Clerk authorized to procure one. No further business appearing on motion adjourned. W.F.
