10-09-1928 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 9, 1928 A special meeting of the village council was held at the Library Room on Tuesday Oct 9 1928 Present – Thos E. Beck, Pres., Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk Meeting called to order by the Pres at 5 o’clock P.M. This meeting was called for the purpose of considering bids for the heating of the new village hall. Albert Middlestadt presented a bid for a fan system of hot air heating. Also one for gravity system and another for steam. Harold Caley presented a plan for a fan system similar to the Middlestadt plan. The council had already decided to adopt the fan system so only considered bids for that system. The following bids were presented Middlestadt Bros 560.00 complete Caley Hdw Co 540.00 complete After some discussion a motion was made seconded and declared carried by the Pres that the lowest bid be accepted. That being the bid of the Caley Hdw Co for 540.00 with written The Council had already listened to a discussion as to the merits of each of the heating plants by their representatives and not seeing much difference as to their merits, both being equally satisfactory could only accept the lowest bid that of the Caley Hdw Co.
