ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING
December 6, 1965
The town board of Elk River Township met at the court house with all members present.
A group of Elk River residents were present in regard to the Gallate Junk Yard. Present were Stanley
Peterson, Geo Deschene. Jim Gallate, Tony Deschene, Jerry Gallate, Ernest Toth, Mike Rotz, Mr.
Hipsag, Art Hipsag, Ted Waite, Milo Moon, Bud Millett, Mrs. Millett, Oscar Banfield, Frank
Eastman, LeRoy Eastman.
Meeting was called to order by chairman Everett L. Specht, William Roson an attorney from St. Paul
was present to represent Jerry Gallate. Mr. Roson asked the status of the township in regard to our
zoning. Mr. Roson explained his definition a used car lot or a junk yard. He said Mr. Gallate does
not operate a junk yard. He said three cars are salvage form car accidents. He also stated these cars
are used for auto parts. It was agreed to have the two attorneys meet to see if they can work out an
agreement.
