Appoint, by motion, Sara Soukup to the Library Board for a 3-year beginning January 1, 2023, and expiring
December 31, 2025.
Background/Discussion
Per Advisory Board and Commission Policy, the Mayor shall make appointments to the Library Board with
approval of the Council.

I have done a lot of volunteer work throughout the school district

River over 16 years ago. Our family participated in children
services and the summer reading program, book club and
general library use. I hold libraries and the resources and
opportunities they provide to our community in high regard. A
library is a central component of any town and thus a position on
the board serving as a representative of the people in our town
would be something I am excited about and willing to do so that
all can have positive experiences with our library, especially
since it has given so much to our family.

Table. These are all organizations here in Elk River/Sherburne
County. In addition, I worked for over 10 years in ISD 728 as a
Title Assistant (Reading Intervention) working with children and
families in our community. All of these positions required me to
have decision-making capabilities within a set budget, excellent
communication skills (verbal and written), time management and
scheduling knowledge, flexibility, negotiation and people skills. I
would be honored to be selected as a participant on the Library
Board. I feel I can bring many attributes to the board and would
enjoy serving the city of Elk River.
