VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
January 31, 1907
Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Elk River in the County of
Sherburne and State of Minnesota including all accounts audited by said Council.
Council met at the store of R.E. Darr. Meeting called to order by President at 8:00 p.m.
Present: R.E. Darr, President Justice de Booy, S.M. Grockett trustees, H.G. Hastings, retiring
recorder and W.F. Ghadbourne. Rec absent M.P. Rhoda Trustee
Minutes: The minutes of the last Special Meeting were read and approved.
Unfinished business: H.G. Hastings reported that he had notified the town board of Otsego in
regard to actions taken by Business Men’s Assoc. in regard to ?roticting the approach to the bridge
on the Wright County side of the river but had as yet received no answer from said board.
Mr. Hastings also presented a bal. of report as to the financial condition of Village January 5, 1907 as
follows:
January 5, 1907 cash on hand, as per treasurer report - General Fund $428.82
Fire Dept Fund $ 91.08
Total $519.90
January 5, 1907 orders outstanding and since paid - $ 5.90
Total $514.00
Orders issued January 7, 1907 and since paid by Davis - $117.97
Total $396.03
Outstanding orders due - $ 25.47
Total $370.56
Orders outstanding and not due - $150.00
Real cash assets $220.56
On motion report accepted.
Official Oaths: The following oaths of office were filed by recorder R.E. Darr President of Council
Justice DeBooy, S.M. Grockett, W.P. Rhoda trustees H.J. Hecb?, Treasurer W.F. Ghadbourne
Recorder
Bonds: the bonds of H.J. Hecbner treasurer and W.J. Ghadbourne recorder were presented and on
motion accepted and placed on file.
Liquor Licenses $1,500.00: The following resolution was presented by G.M. Brockett, Trustee.
Resolved: That the amount to be paid for License to sell intoxicating liquor for the issuing year be
$1,500.00. On motion resolution carried. Yeas: Justice DeBooy, G.M. Brockett, R.E. Darr. Nos:
none.
The Bond of M.G. Blanchett ??? of the Blanchett Hotel was presented with application to sell liquor
at his hotel. On motion his bond was accepted, and application granted. Recorder was authorized to
furnish said M.G. Blanchett with license upon the payment of $1,500.00.
Bills: The following bills were presented and on motion allowed.

G.D. Lashbrook Justice of Village Elections $2.00
W.R. Eaton, lighting lamps for Jan.1907 $10.00
Eli Feather board of ? person $1.00
C.M. Babcock, rent of engine room 1906 $60.00
Justice DeBooy and S.M. Grockett ?? instructed to look after fixing ice break on north end of
bridge.
