07-24-1909 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING JULY 24, 1909 The Common Council met at the office O.J. Whitman. Members present: F.L. Salter, president, J. Virgin B. Carr, L. Pollard, trustees, O.J. Whitman, recorder. Meeting called to order at 8:00 p.m. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. On motion of L. Pollard and seconded by B. Carr the President was authorized to hire W.F. Chadboume to take charge of repairing the Elk River and Otsego bridge under the direction of C.A. P. Turner. The matter of buying and putting in a new village scale was taken up and discussed. On motion by Virgin and seconded by Carr. O.J. Whitman was instructed to purchase the scale. Motion by Pollard, seconded by Virgin to hire H.C. Hastings as official weigher was carried. Motion by Virgin seconded by Carr to pay Harold Keays ten dollars for etra work on street lamps was carried. The following bills were audited and allowed: L. Pollard – fixing sewer & Bridge - $.75 Oliver Mansur – mowing park - $2.00 Lee S.laback – mowing park - $4.00 W.P. Rhoda – freight - $.75 Elk River Lumber Co. 12 sks.. cement $4.40 E.N. Daly – 1 gal gas engine oil and pipe and fixtures for Chadbourne fountain - $3.77 W.F. Chadbourne – 8 days work on fountain - $24.00 Harold Keays – extra work on lamps - $10.00 C.C. Dinehart State Treasurer for Tax for ??ebriation hospital - $36.00 The Patterson Street Lighting Co. – 4 doz. feed pipes, 36 burners, 1 blow torch - $86.10 F.D. Waterman – 28 days assessing - $56.00 O.J. Whiteman – freight paid Rhoda - $.50 John Plante – blacksmithing - $11.05 The Van Tilberg Co. - $2.72 The Standard Oil Co. – 20 gal gasoline - $2.46 Hubner Mercantile Co. – wire screen - $.65 The Penn Oil & Supply Co. - $21.00 No further business adjourned carried.
