07-27-1910 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING JULY 27, 1910 The Common Council met at the Bank of Elk River. Members present: F.L. Salter, President, J. Virgin, L. Pollard, trustees, O.J. Whitman, recorder. Meeting called to order by the President at 8:00 p.m. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. On motion by L. Pollard seconded by Virgin to put sign board on lamp post on the hill by the Harry Mills house at upper town and one by the icehouse forbidding dumping garbage there, also one out by A.A. Opitz at public dumping ground. Motion carried. Motion was made by Virgin, seconded by Pollard to accept offer of A.A. Opitz to furnish ground for public dumping place and to take care of the rubbage for one year for the sum of ten (10) dollars. Motion was carried. Motion was made by Pollard seconded by Virgin that the recorder be instructed to notify John Blocker to fill hole by the Mills place in road on Main Street made by his removing gravel from the street for private purposes. Work to be done under the supervision of the street committee. On motion the following bills were audited and allowed: 16 – F.D. Waterman – assessing - $90.00 17 – Patterson St L. Co. – 10 doz mantles - $18.00 18 – Hubner Mer. Co. soldering pipe in park, 3 gallons gasoline - $.85 19 – F. W. Nickerson – 1 day surveying Spring St. & making profile Ford - $6.00 20 – Harold Keays – plants – labor & gas - $32.15 21 – John Walley – 4 ½ days as Marshal - $9.00 22 – J.E. McBride – running fire engine - $5.00 23 – Standard Oil Co. – gas for June - $10.73 24 – John Plante – steel grates, covers & repairs for sewers - $21.60 25 – L. Pollard – work on street, bridges, and park - $4.75 26 – Bert Gilcrest – services as Marshal July 4 - $3.00 27 – Martin Leerd – Marshal one night - $2.00 28 – M.K. Iliff – Marshal for July ($15) and extra work during street show - $20.00 29 – Harold Keays – lighting lamps for July - $20.00 30 – Elk River Lumber Co. – tile and cement - $76.01 31 – State Treasurer – 2% tax on liquor license credit ??? hospital - $40.00 TOTAL - $359.19 No further business adjourned carried.
