10-06-1911 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL October 6, 1911 A regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the office of Geo. E. Page, President on Saturday evening October 7, 1911. Present: Geo. E. Page, President, B.F. Plummer, Geo. Worden and E.P. Babcock Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, clerk. visitors present F.W. Nickerson and William Iliff, H.C. Hastings. Meeting called to order by the President at 8:30 p.m. The minutes of last regular and all ??? meetings read and approved. The following bills were presented and on motion duly made seconded and carried were allowed and Clerk directed to draw orders on the treasury for their respective accounts. S.F. Wright – 6 ½ days work on street @ $2 - $13.00 William Iliff – 6 ½ days work on street team @ $4 - $26.00 John Blocker – 7 hours work on street team @ $4 - $28.00 Beu Daniels – 7 hours work on street team @ $4 - $28.00 Frank Kessler – 8 ½ hours work on street team @ $2 - $17.00 Elk River Lumber Co. - $31.85 Geo. Carr – carpenter work ½ day - $1.50 Harold C. Deays – bal. due for flowers in park - $10.00 Davis Bros. – goods for Mrs. Bell - $10.07 F.W. Nickerson – team work on streets to ??? - $118.00 J.E. Hamlet – gas and d?ay - $9.92 W.L. Babcock Son’s Co – goods for Mrs. Bell - $3.85 M. Hastings weigh master stated that potatoes were coming in slowly for toll not being enough to pay his wages of $3.00 per day on motion duly made seconded and carried Mr. Hastings was allowed to have what he make from scales as he pay from this date until season closes where it will be turned over to B. Hall. Grading for sidewalk on Princeton St – F.W. Nickerson offered to all grading for sidewalk ordered to be built along east line of Princeton St to establish grad for the sum of $125.00 on motion duly made seconded and carried his proposition was accepted. After considerable discussion in regard to fixing approach at south end of Elk River Bridge at upper town it was the general opinion of the Council that said approach should be fixed permanently by putting in a reinforced concrete ab?????ment and filling in with dirt. On motion duly made seconded and carried F.W. Nickerson was appointed to see that said approach was bult properly and Geo. Worden trustee was appointed to look after grading in ? On motion W.F. Chadbourne was appointed to look after and have a concrete wall built on east side of Princeton St joining State St so that grading for sidewalk could be done. W.F. Chadbourne was also instructed to have blacksmith put iron bolts around top of tubes at north end of bridge over Mississippi river for t???p???y purposes. E.P. Babcock was appointed to fix gutters on sidewalk. No further business, meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m. W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk.
