VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 10, 1912
A special meeting of the Village Council was held at the office of Geo. E. Page, President on
Saturday evening August 10, 1912.
Geo. E. Page, President, E.P. Babcock and B.F. Plummer, George Warden Trustees and W.F.
Chadbourne, Clerk.
Fred Tourtillotte presented a plan for abutment at Elk River bridge. After some discussion on
motion E.P. Babcock trustee was appointed to take {illegible} at above mentioned abutment and
have engineer Naigle of State Road Commission prepare plans and submit them to bidders in the
usual form. Motion seconded and carried.
The following bills were presented and on motion duly made seconded and carried were allowed and
clerk ordered to draw warrants for their respective accounts.
Minnesota Street and Machinery Co. – repair on Elk River bridge - $322.88
{illegible}-Hunter sign Co. - $8.00
{illegible}{illegible}- wood for washouts - $8.00
Geo. Anderson – mowing weeds - $0.60
John Bither City Marshal having offered his resignation on motion made and carried resignation was
accepted to take effect August 15, 1912. In the meantime overtures would be made to Henry
Bargabos to take the office of Marshal.
After some discussion in regard to fire engine. A motion was made seconded and carried appointing
M.K. Iliff chief of Fire Department and the an effort be made to organize a volunteer {illegible} of
six members to be paid for their services said Chief to present a schedule of prices to council for
acceptance.
