SUBJECT: Building Official/Building Division Supervisor
On November 16, 2005, an interview panel consisting of Lori Johnson, Lauren Wipper,
Terry Maurer and Scott Clark interviewed candidates for the position of Building
Official/Building Division Supervisor. The candidates were Denny Anderson, Bob
Ruprecht and Terry Zajac. The interview process consisted of a ~ hour written test and a
45-minute oral interview. The interview centered on understanding the individual
candidates' management and leadership skills and perspectives. Since these interviews were
conducted on Wednesday, November 16th, as of the date of this writing we do not have a
final candidate selected who has expressed an interest in accepting the position. Staff
anticipates that by Monday a recommendation can be concluded regarding the individual
selected, salary, and related information for the Council to review and act on as an official
actIon.

SUBJECT: Building Official/Building Division Supervisor
As stated in the previous City Council memo regarding this item, staff has conducted an
internal interview process for three candidates for the position of Building Official.
Staff recommends that the Council approve Robert Ruprecht for the position, with an initial
salary of $62,500. As with past hiring, a job analysis questionnaire will be completed after 12
months and the salary position will be reviewed again at that time.
