ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING
MARCH 8, 1966
The annual town meeting was held at the court house. The polls were opened at 10 o’clock as set in
the previous years meeting. Oscar Engstrom was appointed Moderator. L.R. Moldenhauer gave the
treasurers report spent 8,408.66 on 12,109.41 R&B 3,339.35 poor. Present balance 5,080.90 Rev 919
R&B Poor 921.60 Overdrawn in poor. The treasurers report was read and approved. It was moved
by L. Specht that 2,000 be transferred to poor fund seconded by Mel Peterson. Motion carried. A
motion was made by Everett Specht that $5,000 be raised for Revenue Fund. A motion was made by
Erwin Specht that 12,000 be raised for Road and Bridge. Motion carried. A motion was made by
Michael Peterson that 4000 be raised for poor fund, seconded by E. Specht. Motion carried.
A motion was made that the gopher bounty be discontinued. Motion was carried.
The matter of hours for next year came up. The motion was made that the meeting be held at 1:30
p.m. Motion carried. Polls open at 10 o’clock and close at 4 p.m. as there was no other business a
motion was made that the meeting be adjourned. Motion was carried.

The town board met with all Members present. The first order of business was having a plan
presented by Curtis Briggs and Bruce Johnson for a part of Camp Cozy. They showed their plans
which called for a 2 rod road at present with plans for camping and boating. The land is behind the
Welch buildings on Highway #10. A motion was made by Earl Schulke seconded by Everett Specht
that Curtis Briggs and Bruce Johnson be allowed to proceed with their plans. Motion carried. Harold
Wellinski appeared before the board to ask for the board to pay his rent. He also asked for help on
groceries. The same was granted.
