ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING
MARCH 14, 1967
The Polls were declared open at 10 o’clock AM. The meeting was called to order by the clerk at 1:30
PM. Richard Bigelow was appointed to act as moderator. The moderator called for a treasurer
report. Balance 1966 R& 963.61 Rev 2080.40 Poor 1078.39 Pres Balance R&B was overdrawn Rev
381.28 Poor 3030.66 Present balance 3,244.90. The Township has an outstanding for tarring road
west of town. A motion was made by Erwin Specht and seconded by Melvil Peterson that the
treasurers report be accepted as read. Oscar Engstrom made a motion seconded by E. Specht that
13000 be raised by R&B. A motion was made 5000 be raised for Revenue. Motion by E. Specht
seconded O. Engstrom carried. A motion was made by Ernest Palmer seconded by Everett Specht a
mill be raised for Poor and fire funds motion carried. A motion was made by D. Henkle seconded
by Julius Nementh that 1500 be transferred from poor fund to Road and Bridge. Motion carried. A
motion was made by Julius Nemeth and seconded by Ernest Toth that the hours for voting be from
10 AM to 7 PM. Also business meeting be the same as this year. The custom of gopher bounty was
brought up by Erwin Specht. No action taken. A motion was made by Erwin Specht seconded by
Melvil Peterson. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
