Background/Discussion Last �Tear the Council implemented changes to their program recognizing cit�T volunteers. In previous yTears, Chamber Bucks weYe provided and in 2022 Councilmembers peYsonally handed out $10 tokens to be spent at the Farmer's Market. Last year we were off to the side of the main cityr table at the back corner of the market. If Council wants to continue with the same program, you could be at the same table or have yTour own table/tent. We could also combine the volunteer appreciation paYt of the event with the meet and gYeet progYam done in yeaYs past. We could include signage and informational materials on the table and anything else you mayT want. If the Council would like to continue the program like last year, we need to confirm the dates most of you can make it to the market before spaces aYe booked. The maYket will Yun from June 15 thYough August 17 and anyr date is available if you have your own table. June 15 is also the first night of the Riverfront conceYt series. If the Council prefers to be in the same location as last yTear, the second Thursda�T of each month would not be available. Financial Impact This is the second year for this updated program. Less than half the tokens were claimed. This program is budgeted for $1,700 but if continued as is, staff expects costs of appro�matel�T $500. If Council likes program, select market date for Council attendance. Background Over the last few yTears, Council created a recognition program for cittT volunteers. Due to the pandemic, thank �Tou letters were sent `vith �5 in Chamber bucks. The Chamber program will be changing this year and I believe Council's interest is in a more personal contact t�rpe of program. Administrative and farmer's market staff discussed the follo`ving option. Staff could send a letteY to volunteeYs that includes a voucheY. The volunteeY would come to the maYket on a specific date where theyT would turn in their voucher for a$5 token, along with a personal thank yTou from Council and staf£ The token could be used on any booth at the market Staff can also woYk with the kettle corn vendor to have small bags of popcorn prepared ahead of time at a cost of about $1 per bag. A sticker could be designed for the bags thanking the volunteers for their service. Other design elements �vould be created thanking the volunteers at the Council table. July 21 oY August 18 tivould be the best dates to cooYdinate this event with the maYket The maYket is open 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. A schedule could also be determined in shifts for Councilmembers. There `vouldn't be as manyT volunteers this year as we'd only be recognizing them from JanuaryT to July. If the program continued, next year we'd recognize volunteers from July 2022 to July 2023. Financial Impact The budget for this program is $1,500. Expenses this yTear �vould be under $500.
