ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING
FEBRUARY 17, 1971
The Town Board held a special meeting at the office of John MacGibbon. Present were John
MacGibbon, Mr. Mills, Jack Klein, E Rathbun, EL Specht, Earl Schulke, Franklin Madsen, Bill
Brady, Gordon Frederecksen. The purpose was to investigate possibilities of ways to head off a
possible land fill in the gravel pit now operated by the St. Paul Sand and Gravel Co. The Main
concern was the possible future pollution of the wells in the vicinity also the Village water supply.
The Town Board is to show their feelings in this matter so that the planning commission also the
County Board will know the desire of the people in Elk River Township. Mr. Mills was to look into
what safe guards PCA are putting into the permit issued for the above purpose. He is also going to
see if they are aware of a Housing development adjacent to this operation.
