11-11-1971 TBM ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING NOVEMBER 11, 1971 Mr. and Mrs. Laren Sauter appeared before the Board in regard to getting relief assistance. Mr. Sauter said he is twenty one yrs old and is out of work. He comes from Cedar Minn and his wife came from Coon Rapids. Mr and Mrs Sauter has not resided in this township to date but are living with her parents in Coon Rapids. It was recommended they go directly to Anoka County for relief. A Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Johnson appeared in regard to welfare help they live on Rte 3 Elk River. They moved to this area in August of 1971. They have 3 children. He has been laid off from Electric Machinery. They were mainly interested in getting surplus commodity food. A motion was made that surplus food be recommended for the Johnson’s. Motion carried. The clerk is to contact the county welfare for same. Meeting adjourned. EV Rathbun Clerk Nov 11, 1971 The Town Board met in special session the renewal of a beer license for Progressive Enterprises Inc came up. A motion was made by E Specht seconded by Franklin Madsen that this license renewal be granted. Motion carried. E. Rathbun Clerk Franklin Madsen moved that the clerk send a letter to the planning commission stating that the Elk River Town Board goes on record as being opposed to any permanent mobile home being placed in this township. Also renewals unless a home is to be build. Motion seconded by E. Specht also carried. EV Rathbun
