ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING
JUNE 4, 1973
The meeting was called to order by the chairman EL Specht. First order of business was the
payment of Brenteson. Frank Madsen moved seconded by E. Schulke this bill be paid. Motion so
carried. The board approved the purchase of metal culverts. Eno Schmidt met with the board. He
said the abstract was for the same forty acres that the twp was interested in purchasing. Eldon
Rootes was next to meet with the board. He explained that the map of Elk River did not have street
numbers. He also said that County roads should be named. The number for the County will be the
same. Earl moved that county roads be named boulevards seconded by F Madsen. Motion carried.
Next Tom Kolar brought in plats on the former Maurice Varney property. It was suggested that the

stub road – Ulysses be eliminated beyond 200 Ave. It was moved by Frank Madsen that we accept

Knollwood West and Knollwood West 2 addition with exceptions of Ulysses Street South of 200
Ave be left as an out lot. Also a variance be allowed to give a three to one instead of a 4 to one back
slope. Seconded by Earl Schulke. Motion carried. Gary Pringle an attorney representing Dale
Borquist appeared along with Mr. and Mrs. Borquist. It was stated that the Board is neutral on the
road in question. Mr. Borquist stated that if the road on the south half of 18 is ever built he would
be willing to donate land for road purposes.
It was moved by Frank Madsen seconded by Earl Schulke that Elk River Township remain neutral
in above mentioned road. Motion carried. Earl moved seconded by Frank that the bill for
connecting engineers be approved. Motion carried. A motion was made by Earl seconded by Frank
that the license for beer and bottle club at Elk River County Club be renewed. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Frank Madsen that we issue a check to the Elk River area Park and Rec
board in the amount of 1600.00 to be used by that board for park and recreational purposes.
Seconded by Earl Schulke. Motion carried. Burns Board met with our board to talk about the names
of streets and avenues. They plan to do the same as we did in street names. A motion was made by
Earl seconded by Frank that all tar roads be seal coated and sanded. Motion carried.
