BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
This month commissioners are reviewing policy G.1c – Mission Statement to make comments,
ask questions, or recommend updates.
The purpose of this policy is to establish a guiding statement to communicate both internally
and externally the day to day purpose for the organization’s existence. The mission statement
then plays an important role in the development of policies and programs and serves as a guide
for effective governance and operations.

G.1c Mission Statement
PURPOSE:
One of the key components in establishing an organizational core purpose is the development
and ongoing support of a relevant mission statement. Through the development, adoption, and
ongoing support of an organizational mission statement, the Commission establishes a guiding
statement to communicate both internally and externally the day to day purpose for the
organization’s existence. The mission statement then plays an important role in the development
of policies and programs and serves as a guide for effective governance and operations.
POLICY:
The Commission adopts and commits to govern in a manner consistent with the following
mission statement:
Provide our customers with safe, reliable, cost effective and quality long term electric
and water utility service. To communicate and educate our customers in use of utility
services, programs, policies, and future plans. These products and services will be
provided in an environmentally and financially responsible manner.
