VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
FEBRUARY 7, 1966
The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Feb 7, 1966. All
members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Coles. The minutes of the last
meeting were read and approved.
Fire Chief Harry Dreissig was present. He says the village needs a tanker for extra water on account
of outlying districts where there is no city water. Also he says that the village will need a new fire
truck before very long.
Police Chief Micheau attended the meeting. He says the Police car needs overhauling and was asked
to get prices.
The matter of manager for the Municipal Liquor Store. The applications have been considered. A
motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to hire Mr. Robert S Reynolds of New Ulm at
a salary of $500.00 a month. Motion carried all voting in favor.
A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to employ an assistant manager at the
Liquor Store at a salary of 15 cents per hour above the bartender salary. Motion carried.
In the matter of a new floor for the Library a motion was made by Syrvig and seconded by Hudson
it was decided to go ahead with the new floor and employ Gene Vassar at a cost of $262.20 Carried.
The clerk was asked to write the Highway Department at St. Cloud that repairs are needed on Sixth
Street between Proctor and Quinn Avenues.
