A total of four winners and four honorable mentions were chosen byT judges. Ashley Aragon, a 6`�' grader from VandenBerge Middle School, was recognized with an honorable mention by the League of iVlinnesota Cities. Essays can be submitted online or using the form on page two (either handwritten or typed into the fillable form), should be no more than one page in length or about 125-300 words, and must answer the following question: Cities provide a variety of services and programs that make our lives better, including parks & rec, street maintenance, water and sewer, libraries, police, fire, and more! If you were mayor for a day, what would you do to make one of the services that your city provides even better? Essays must be the original work of students residing in Minnesota who are in 4th, Sth, or 6th grade as of fall 2022. Three winners will be selected based on creativity, originality, ability to show a basic understanding of city services, and legibility (ifhandwritten) and notified via email in early January. Each winner will receive a$100 prize.
