Action Requested
Review and discussion of a neighbor’s request for the city to install a privacy fence at Meadowvale Heights Park.
Recommend, by motion to accept/not accept the installation of a privacy fence at Meadowvale Heights Park.
Background/Discussion
The trails and boardwalks at Meadowvale Park were updated two years ago after years of deterioration. The
boardwalks were removed and replaced with an ADA compliant paved trail section which required filling a
portion of the wetland. The state required the relocation of the trail 20-feet to the north to minimize the wetland
impact bringing it closer to the property behind the home at 13210 196th Avenue.
Jayne and Dirk Barret, residents at 13210 196th Avenue, recently sent an email requesting the city to install a
privacy fence between the trail and their residence. The Barrett’s are planning to attend the Commission meeting
to discuss their request. Recent correspondence between Tim Sevcik and the neighbors is attached.
Staff does not recommend a privacy fence since it could set a precedent with our park properties.
