Approve, by motion, a proclamation designating June 15, 2023, as Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Farmer’s
Market
Background/Discussion
The City Council appreciates and wishes to acknowledge volunteers who work on services and projects
throughout the year. Councilmembers will be at the June 15 Farmer’s Market to meet and greet community
members and volunteers. The proclamation will be displayed at the market.
This proclamation expresses their feelings and thankfulness for volunteers in our community.

Proclamation
Designating June 15, 2023, as
Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Farmer’s Market
in the City of Elk River, Minnesota
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River City Council believes volunteers are essential partners in serving
our community and supporting our mission; and
WHEREAS, we alone, as the City of Elk River can’t meet all the needs of our community and
depend on the hard work, passion, and dedication of our volunteers; and
WHEREAS, volunteers take time out of their demanding and busy lives to help make Elk River a
better place to live, work, and play and it is essential we continue having those who are willing to
give and share a part of themselves in preserving community and;
WHEREAS, the impact of our volunteers can be seen in every corner of Elk River, from picking
up trash in our neighborhood parks, clearing trees from trails, assisting staff with our many special
events, those who act as mentors and coaches in our youth sports programs, and so much more; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River takes great pride in honoring our volunteers and conveying our
gratitude and appreciation for their committed, selfless, and compassionate efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Elk River City Council wishes to recognize and say “thank-you” to all our
volunteers who have given their time, energy, and talent to participating in caring for their
community and making a difference through their volunteer service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, John J. Dietz, Mayor of Elk River, do
hereby proclaim June 15, 2023, as Volunteer Appreciation Day in the City of Elk River.
