Councilmember Wagner received a request from a member of the Downtown Elk River Business Association
regarding the purchase and placement of planters near the junction of Jackson Avenue and Main Street by the
Parks and Recreation kiosk at River’s Edge Commons Park.

The Riverfront Downtown Elk River Business Association would like to
ask for the following request to be approved.
We are looking to have three planters put in the following locations
seen in this packet at the three-way stop signs in the center of our
downtown. Why? As a group we feel this is the main focal point of
coming into our downtown area and having these filled with
greenery, holiday decorations etc. year-round establishes
beautification to our downtown.
These planters will be taken care of by DERBA members year-round.
The locations of these planters will not interfere with city shoveling or
pedestrians. These locations, used for 2022 decorations for fall and
Christmas as noticed, did not interfere with shoveling or walking for
pedestrians. We as a DERBA group and City of Elk River had many
community members express how nice they looked and were a great
asset to our downtown. We would like to use these pots year-round
and replacing plants etc. as needed by our DERBA group.
