Approve, by motion, the updated Park Improvement Fund (PIF) and Park Dedication Fund projects
Background/Discussion
The Parks and Recreation Commission directed staff to include additional amenities at Lion John Weicht Park.
The Commission recommends the City Council reallocate project funding from the Park Improvement Fund
(PIF) and Park Dedication Fund (PDF) to pay for the improvements.
The following are their recommendations for changing the various project funding sources:
Lions John Weicht Park Playground
PIF was reduced from $200,000 to $100,000 (cost to replace the current playground)
PDF was increased from $0 to $309,000 (new market value improvements)
WTRP Storage Garage
PIF was reduced from $150,000 to $17,600 (the current 2023 tax assessment amount)
PDF was increased from $0 to $132,400 (new market value improvements)
Misc. PIF items added to 2023
Security cameras and cabling at Orono Park ($6,500)
Relocate electric utilities and install Sonotube Concrete Forms for the YAC shade structure ($17,800)
Misc. PDF future projects
The Ninja Playground was removed from the proposed project list ($280,000)
County Crossings playground postposed from 2024 to 2025 ($125,000)
