06-12-1996 PR MIN . . . MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 1996 Members Present: Chair Dana Anderson. Commissioners Dave Anderson. Olson (8:05) Staff Present: Phil Hals. Street/Park Superintendent: Steve Rohlf. Building and Zoning Administrator; Michelle Dwyer. Recording Secretary The meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission could not be called to order because a quorum was not present. Commissioners Dave Anderson and Dana Anderson reviewed the issue of the trails in Meadowvale Heights. Residents from the Meadowvale Heights area were present and were asked to voice their concerns. The residents living on Elgin Drive presented a petition. The petition indicated the following: "This is a protest against any bike path that would be built in Phase II of the Meadowvale Development. We feel that the path is unnecessary. The street is wide enough for activities such as walking and biking. Our development is not a heavily traveled area and the safety of our children is not in jeopardy. The bike path will cause the area to become heavily traveled which we do not want. It would be a waste of taxpayers money to put this bike path in. Please use the money in a better way." No decision was made on this issue due to lack of a quorum. Although there was not a quorum present. the Commissioners discussed the items on the Park and Recreation Commission Agenda as follows: · Sale of park property to Sherburne County for Road Improvement · Access to the Elk River from Yankton Street · North Meadows 3rd Preliminary Plat · Trail Corridor along Dickinson Bus Garage · Cass Property Development · Bids on Lion I s park Trails .. Landscape Plan for Downtown Porking Lot No action was taken on these items due to lack of a quorum. Respectfully submitted. JJJ~hLLLe ~{L. Michelle Dwyer Recording Secretary
