1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee was called to
order at 10:03 a.m. by Ryan.
2. Consider Agenda
Moved by Deb and seconded by Melissa to approve the agenda. Motion carried 3-0.
3. Consider Minutes
Moved by Melissa and seconded by Deb to approve October 10, 2023, Meeting Minutes. Motion
carried 3-0.
4.1 2023 Vision and Goals
Josh shared that Ashley had resigned since the last meeting. Josh requested feedback to determine if a
collaborative effort between the Beautification Committee and the Public Art Committee could be
warranted. The committee members were agreeable for staff to look further into collaboration.
The committee was in favor of moving forward with the Beautification Award for 2023.
Josh shared Brooklyn Park’s Summer Blossom program which highlights residential and commercial
landscaping efforts as inspiration for a new program for the Beautification Committee.
Ryan asked if staff time would be an issue moving forward with a similar program. Josh advised that a scaled
down program would work for staff.
The committee agreed to workshop the program in 2023 for implementation in 2024.
Josh advised that he will update the committee responsibilities and bring it to the committee next month for
approval.
4.2 2023 Meeting Schedule
The committee preferred to keep all regular meetings on the schedule and cancel as needed.
Moved by Deb and seconded by Melissa to approve the 2023 Meeting Schedule. Motion carried 3-0.
4.3 Marketing Strategy for 2023 Activities
Josh advised that staff would begin marketing on the Beautification Award this month. Josh requested that
Melissa make relevant updates to the flyer.
Melissa suggested other marketing strategies such as Elk Riverfest and the farmer’s market.
Staff will research additional marketing opportunities.
5. Adjournment
There being no further business, Ryan adjourned the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee at
10:28 a.m.
