Background/Discussion The city is looking at the need to replace five playgrounds from 2024 to 2028. The Trott Brook Park playground is in the PIF to be replaced in 2024 for $125,000. The other playgrounds coming up for replacement include Riverplace Park (2026), Mississippi Oaks Park (2027), Highlands and Fresno Parks (2028). A total of twelve playgrounds need to be replaced between 2024 and 2033. Staff would like to start a discussion on the need to replace playgrounds in the coming years. The typical lifespan of a playground is up to 25-years depending on the manufacturer and type of playground design. Does the Commission desire to replace all the playgrounds currently in our park system? Financial Impact The average cost to replace a neighborhood size playground in 2023 is $125,000.
