Orono Park Playground Rock Replacement Options

Discussion to replace the Orono Park playground rock with a new playground option.
Background/Discussion
Staff has defined three different playground options that the city can currently purchase and install to replace the
rock climber that was removed from the Orono Park playground earlier this spring due to safety issues. These three
options are very different in design and price point, but all three would fit within the use zones we have available in
the existing container.
Staff is recommending four options for discussion the Commission may consider. They are as follows:
Option 1 - $46,000 Boulder replacement
Option 2 - $60,000 + k Fortress Multi-Climber or a different unique play feature such as the We-Go-Round
Option 3 - $40,000 Rope Climber
Option 4 – No replacement
Financial Impact
The financial impact could be up to $75,000 for 2024 from the PIF.
