Mark Peterson,Tony Miller,Levi Aespoh,and Tom Sagstetter
Members Absent Commissioners Reggie Vanlonden,and Jon Cappaert
Staff Present: Environmental Services/Special Projects Director Suzanne Fischer
1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the F.lk River Energy City
Commission was called to order by Chair Mahon at 8:30 a.m.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
Commissioner Mahon led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Oath of Office
Vern Iverson and Levi Aesoph took and signed their oath of office.
4. ConsiderAgenda&Minutes
Commissioner Sagstetter moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Commissioner Aesoph.
Commissioner Grupa moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Peterson.
5. Status of Energy City Goals
Commissioners discussed Goal 3—`Advocate to the City Council that all RFP's or capital expenditures
clearly identify and quantify the LT environmental and energy eficiency attributes for projects or equipment
purchases exceeding%S0K in cost
Commissioner Sagstetter provided examples of sustainability questions to ask suppliers,
however we will continue to search for more local examples.This item will be brought back to
the ECC in May.
5.2 ECC Presentation to Council.
The ECC power point for an Apr. 17 presentation to Council was reviewed by the Commission. In
addition,Chair Mahon shared that he will have talking points with it and Commissioner Iverson will
provide a briefing to them on the Recharge MN event in August.
5.3 Follow-Up from Recharge MN meeting of 3.8.
The bi-weekly planning meetings are going well,and the group has been in contact with area car
dealerships (for EV test drives),vendors,schools,charitable organizations,and potential sponsors.
Plans include a strong focus on career opportunities and jobs in energy related fields.The
Transportation Center for Excellence will provide a hands-on trailer and possibly an EV cut in half.
The Elk River Fire Dept has also been asked to participate.The event will include food trucks in

the parking lot as well as food and beverages offered by the Fl C caterer.Area billboards will be
rented to advertise/promote the event.
5.4 Sustainable RFP questions (addressed in Item 5).
5.5 Communication Issues.
Staff has requested Jake Pace,the Gov't Access Cable Coordinator,to attend this meeting to discuss
video ideas for the Aug. 8 EV/Energy event at the FTC. Unfortunately,he was not able to attend.
Staff will request his attendance again on May 17 mtg.
5.6 Other Commissioner Updates
Commissioner Iverson stated that we will be in Vancouver at the end of March.
There being no further business,Commissioner Sagstetter moved to adjourn the meeting,seconded
by Commissioner Peterson.The meeting was adjourned at 9:45am.
