Background/Discussion The Elk River Police Department has been awarded $88,400 in grant money for Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) enforcement. The grant requires City Council approval, and signature of the mayor, city clerk and police chief. The attached resolution will be sent to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for finalization of the grant. Once the resolution is signed, the final draft of the grant agreement will be sent to the Elk River Police Department for signature and finalization. Updated: January 2023 City of Elk River City Council Resolution 23-____ A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Authorizing Execution of a Grant Agreement for the Toward Zero Death Program WHEREAS, Be it resolved that the City of Elk River, on behalf of its police department, enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for traffic safety enforcement projects during the period from October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024; and WHEREAS, The City of Elk River Police Chief, Ron Nierenhausen, is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the City of Elk River Police Department and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant.
