07-07-1958 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING July 7, 1958 The regular meeting of the Village Council was called to order on July 7, 1958 by Mayor Johnosn. All members were present. The minutes of the last meetings were read and approved. A delegation from Upper Town attended the meeting regarding their petition for sewer service. As Lester Derr, Street Commissioner, was not present it was not possible to go into the matter other than to show them the estimate of cost by Engineer Mills. The matter will be taken up at a later date. Chief of Police, Oliver Micheau reported that the railroad company has refused to allow truck parking on railroad property just north of the depot. The Council agreed to allow George Moos two weeks vacation with pay. A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Briggs to transfer $5000.00 from the Liquor Store Fund to the general fund. Carried. Al Balow, Manager of the Liquor Store reported that the store has done over $6,400.00 mor business for the first six months of 1958 than for the first six months of 1957 showing a profit of $2073.00 more than the same period of 1957. The town board of the Town of Otsego attended the meeting. They signed a contract with the Village of Elk River for fire protection. H.A. Briggs Village Clerk Council met at 7:30 p.m. Present: D.R. Houlton, President; S.S. Trask; W.E. Corry; F.W. Hildreth; and E.E. Bryant Each member took the official oath according to law. On motion the Sheriff’s Office at the Court House was designated as the place of meeting of this Council and the last Saturday evening of each month was named as the regular meeting night. On motion John Hayward was appointed Poundmaster and Lot 10, 11 & 12 Block 7 of W.H. Houlton’s Addition to Elk River were designated as a pound. On motion the official bond of Henry Castle as Village Treasurer was accepted, approved and ordered filed with the Recorder for record.
