Statistics
• Circulation: Year to Date as of September 30, 2023 = 159,855 (2022 YTD 158,604). Circulation
continues to increase. (2022 showed monthly decreases).
• Express Checkout: averaged 49.1% of total check out; increase in reference questions and new
library cards (staff intensive).
• New Library Card Registrations: 599 new cards (Jul -Sep); year to date 1,834 (1,645 ytd 2022).
Programs July - September
• Ages 0-6: 14 programs reaching 260 community members
• Ages 6-11: 25 programs reaching 259 community members
• Teens: Four programs reaching eight community members
• Adults: Six programs reaching 73 community members
• Outreach: Two activities reaching 852 community members
• Class Visits to the Library: 13 reaching 195 community members (youth)
• Summer Reading Program Total: 1,074 Participants who read 390,720 minutes. We gave away
684 books.
News
• Staffing: As of 10/11/2023 Elk River Library is fully staffed. Of 11 staff, seven are new to ER as of
May 2023. Our staff, in order of GRRL seniority are: Laura Cassidy, Sherri Rasmussen, Jackie
Hague, Margot Barry, Angie Kapphahn (sub), Hannah Sorenson, Allison Skinner, Ibett Gomez,
Keegan Agyekum, Nick Wilson, and Dawn Oleen.
• Collection Management: We have been and continue to engage in a large review how the
collection engaged. Working with the Collection Development team in St. Cloud, we are
relocating items and reworking the floor plan to increase visibility and accessibility. The Library
will be contacting the city this quarter about moving some fixtures to create better site lines
and collection engagement, first in the adult collection, and then in the children's area.
• Elk River Library will be attending Community Connect on October 19, Ilam-2pm. We will
promote library collection offerings, give away children's books, share events, and encourage
library card registration.
• The Friends of the Elk River Library will hold their book sale October 26 (4-7pm), October 27
(10am-5pm), and October 28 (10am-1pm).
