SUBJECT: Authorization to Purchase Outdoor Warning Siren
As part of our capital improvement plan for outdoor warning siren replacement, in the 2006 budget
is a siren to be located at 191 st Avenue NW and York Circle. The newly purchased outdoor warning
siren will replace an old three-phase Thunderbeam siren which at this time is over 20 years old.
Enclosed is a quotation from Federal Signal Corporation for a model2001SRNB outdoor warning
siren and all the accessories needed for a total of $11,429.25. This total includes sales tax and
shipping. It is anticipated there will be a 3% - 5% increase in the cost of outdoor warning sirens
February 1, 2006.
Once again, the Elk River Municipal Utilities will be assisting in the replacement project at 191 st
Avenue NW and York Circle and I would like to thank Line Superintendent Glenn Sundeen and his
staff for all the assistance with the outdoor warning sirens. I will be in attendance at the January 9,
2006 City Council meeting to answer any questions you may have referencing outdoor warning
sltens.
Action Requested
Mayor and Council approval for the purchase of one model2001SRNB outdoor warning siren for
the amount of $11,429.25 to be placed at 191st Avenue NW and York Circle.
