Discuss the IT System Administrator position and job description as presented.
Background/Discussion
We propose restructuring the current IT Support Assistant position to become an IT S�Tstem Administrator based
on the Yevised job description.
Ne`v duties and responsibilities include:
■ Implementing, administering, supporting, troubleshooting, documenting and maintaining the cityT network
infrastructure. This includes Local Area Net�vork/Wide Area Network equipment, s�vitches, routers, wireless
controllers/ and access points.
■ Manage fire`valls, securityT applications, and virtual private networks `vhile adhering to the Criminal Justice
Net�voYk Requirements.
■ Trace, document, patch and test fiber and copper cabling infrastructure.
■ Ensure net��ork and applications are accessible to users with miiiirnal interruptions and optimal performance.
■ Maintaining, recommending and implementation of s�rstems securit�r.
■ Conduct project research, evaluations, recommendations, and implement solutions as directed.
■ Obtain and maintain CJIS securit�T Awareness Leve14 Certificate.
■ Maintain current kno�vledge level and certification in areas of expertise through self-direct study, classes,
etc.
Financial Impact
The payT grade of this position is yTet to be determined. Ho`vever, the 2024 budget includes a comparable salaryT for
the new hire at a starting wage.
