Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Dina Nelson to the position of fulltime liquor store clerk effective November
21, 2023.
Background/Discussion
When Brenda Gustafson was promoted to store manager for Westbound Liquor Store, it left vacant her fulltime
liquor store clerk position. We went to market to fill this position and received 20 applications. We offered
interviews to 11 candidates and recommend Dina Nelson for the position.
Ms. Nelson has been a part-time liquor store clerk for us for 21 years and has worked at both stores. Beyond
normal part-time clerk duties, she also performs inventory, invoice entry, price adjustments, and other duties
normally assigned to fulltime clerks.
Ms. Nelson would begin at step C of pay grade 6N and begin accruing vacation leave at the rate of an employee
who is beginning their 10th year of service. All other pay and benefits would be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
