VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
February 14, 1917
A regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Office of C.F. Fiman Pres on Wednesday
evening Feb 14, 1917
Present – C.F. Fiman, Pres, E.E. Scott, E.J. Keegan Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk.
Meeting called to order by Pres at 8:15 P.M.
The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. Clerk instructed to draw orders for same.
Minnesota State Sanitorium for care of Mrs. Lydia Goodin 137.06
This is an old bill for care of Mrs. Goodin during her last sickness
Harry Hall snow plow clearing streets 7.15
E.R. Garage housing and caring for fire engine 5.00
E.R. Power and Light Co repairs on St. lights 3.60
Walter S. Booth and Sons blanks for clerks office 3.31
C.F. Fiman was instructed to procure Workman’s Insurance for men while laboring on Bridge Ice
Break and clerk authorized to draw an order for amt of said premium. It was decided by Council to
tell Mr. Naegle of the State Highway Commission to come up here immediately and give the Council
some idea as to what was needed. Mr. Fiman was instructed to do so.
The Waterous Engine Works Co notified the Council that the semi-annual interest on note for fire
engine would be due Feb 17 1917 amt. $43.50 clerk was instructed to pay same where due.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted
Resolved that a note of thanks be given to Mr. H.D. Treglawny for gift of a beautiful U.S. flag
intended for park at Band Stand and sincerely hope and believe that the folds of Old Glory will
protect him wherever he may be on the face of the earth.
Motion made and carried that we release engine house to C.M. Babcock as the fire engine is stored
in E.R. Garage and Village has no further use for building.
