Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Cory Olson to the position of IT Network Specialist effective March 11, 2024.
Background/Discussion
At the November 6, 2023, City Council Work Session, the Council agreed to the request to change the vacant IT
Support Assistant position to an IT Network Specialist position. Following approval of the position description,
staff went to market. We received 37 applications and offered interviews to five candidates. Two candidates came
back for a second interview and following background and reference checks, we recommend Cory Olson for the
position.
Mr. Olson holds an Associate’s degree in Computer Network Systems and has been working for Metro Sales as a
Field Support Representative since 2009. He will start at step A of pay grade 7E. All pay and benefits will be
consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
