5.3 LIBSR 04-23-2024 GREAT RIVER REGIONAL LIBRARY Elk River Library Services Coordinator Report To the Elk River Library Board – April 23, 2024 Building Maintenance  Shelving Shift o Adult area shifting is complete. More open space, more seating, better visibility and accessibility. o Teen area is almost complete. o Children’s area shift is on deck; GRRL requested a small shift until the children’s nonfiction collection can be reviewed for currency. o Many thanks to the city staff who are associated with the shift. They have all been great to work with and meticulous in their work, offering their expertise to further the goals of the shift.  Floor repairs o The Teen area floors were replaced on March 18, 2024. o Other patch work is scheduled for later in April. o Waxing of the floors is expected to happen after the children’s shift. o In a meeting with city staff, it was requested a request for funding via Capital improvement plan be submitted by Gary Lore. It was also suggested the library submit for new shelving via this CIP; this is an ongoing discussion.  General Maintenance o Doors: City staff have been cleaning/refinishing the bottoms of doors throughout the library adding kick plates to several. o Trim: City staff are in the process of finishing sanding and refinishing work to wood trim throughout the library. o Exterior: The electric reader box on the exterior of the building was damaged, and replaced on 4/2/2024. o Two wood panels that were damaged due to waters were replaced. o Locks in the Community Room were treated for stickiness.  Cleaning o The LSC has worked with City Maintenance regarding the cleaning of the building. There is a notable drop in the thoroughness that is being addressed.  Alarm System o The week of 4/2/2024 we were receiving a alarm alert regarding the door by the teen area. It’s been resolved.  Looking Forward o The floors (above) o Mailbox o Kids Quiet Room 1 | P a g e GREAT RIVER REGIONAL LIBRARY Library Statistics  Circulation: 51,357 items January – March 2024 (2023 circ same months= 50,951)  Express CheckOut: 16,323 for 2023, representing just over 50% of all check outs.  New Library Card Registrations: 727 new card holders in 2024 (as of 4/16/2024).  1000 Books Before Kindergarten – 22 new kiddos in January promo.  Programs January-March o Ages 0-6: 11 programs reaching 453 community members o Ages 6-11: Six programs reaching 82 community members o Teens: Seven programs reaching 19 community members o Adults: 15 programs reaching 158 community members o Outreach: One activity reaching 42 community members o Class Visits to the Library: zero o Self-Directed: One reaching 97 community members Respectfully Submitted by Margot Barry, LSC, Elk River Library. 04/16/2024 2 | P a g e GREAT RIVER REGIONAL LIBRARY
