Minutes of Village Election 1908 Minutes of Village Election ___________________ (a)The lines following the letter (a) in this blank are left to write in the fact, that “the electors present at the time and place named for opening the polls, elected the judges and clerk vice voce, because the Council had neglected to make such appointment,” or “because the persons so appointed, or one or more of them, neglected or refused to serve” (if such as the case). ____________________ At the Annual Village Election of the Village of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, held at Grand Army Hall (Phoenix Blk) being the place where it was directed to be held by the Village Council after giving due notice thereof as provided by law; on the 14 day of Jan 1908, and Justis deBooy and C.D. Lashbrook two qualified voters of said Village, to act as Judges of such Election, and one qualified voter of said Village to act as Clerk of such Election, each of whom had within twenty days before such time been designated and appointed by the Village Council to act as Judges and Clerk respectively of such Election (a) ____________________ Who being present, at the hour of one o’clock P.M., each of them duly took and subscribed an oath _________ to faithfully discharge the duties required of them at such election, and the said Judges and Clerk being duly qualified, forthwith opened the polls by proclamation, and the election proceeded by ballot without adjournment or intermission until closed. The subjects voted on at such Election, as stated in the Notice thereof, were: To elect One president of Village Council Three Trustees One Recorder One Treasurer One Assessor One Justice of the Peace At four o’clock in the afternoon of said day the polls were closed, proclamation thereof having been made by one of the Judges thirty minutes previous thereto. The Judges and Clerk then proceeded forthwith to publicly count the votes cast, and the result thereof was duly proclaimed to the voters by said Judges and Clerk, who recorded the same in the Village Minute Book. STATEMENT OF RESULT OF CANVASS The following is the true statement of the result of the counting and canvass of votes by ballot at the Annual Village Election of the Village of Elk River County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, held June 14, 1908, as proclaimed to voters by the Judges and Clerk of Election: R.E. Dare received 75 votes for President of Council Justus deBooy received 35 votes for President of Council R.E. Dare was declared elected President of Council Justus deBooy received 75 votes for Trustee S.M. Crockett received 77 votes for Trustee W.P Rhoda received 77 votes for Trustee J.E. McBorde received 34 votes for Trustee Perry Clute received 33 votes for Trustee Will Iliff received 32 votes for Trustee Justus deBooy was declared elected Trustee S.M. Crockett was declared elected Trustee W.P. Rhoda was declared elected Trustee H.J. Heebner received 109 votes for Treasurer H.J. Heebner was declared elected Treasurer W.F. Chadbourne received 75 votes for Recorder E.L. Ward received 35 votes for Recorder W.F. Chadbourne was declared elected Recorder J.D.A. Nickerson received 70 votes for Assessor A.B. Delarltre received 39 votes for Assessor J.D.A Nickerson was declared elected Assessor H.C. Hastings received 109 votes for Justice of the Peace H.C. Hastings was declared elected Justic of the Peace Justus deBooy Judges of Election
