AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:

SUBJECT:
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
As of May 30, Allegiant has completed 136 residential water meter replacements and seven
retrofits. The pace is slower than anticipated due to staffing issues that Allegiant has been
experiencing, which also resulted in approximately 50 appointments having to be rescheduled.
We have been assured that Allegiant is in the process of filling this position and will be starting
their third technician at the end of May.
Staff has reviewed the commercial water meter appointment letter draft provided by Allegiant
and will be sending over revisions for final approval. An example of this commercial
appointment letter has been provided for your reference. Allegiant is still working on getting
another scheduling database setup for commercial services. I anticipate they will send out the
commercial appointment letter as soon as they have this database in place.
Another mailing of residential letters is expected to go out this week to approximately 1500
residential customers.
Staff expects that Allegiant's subcontractor (Archer Plumbing) will begin commercial water
meter replacements beginning in June. Staff met with Allegiant, Archer Plumbing, and TKDA at
both Sportech locations to go over the details of the replacements. TKDA will be performing
spot inspections for us throughout this project. Sportech is scheduled to get their meters
replaced on June 6 which coordinated well with a shutdown that they already had planned for
their business.
We are still working with our distributor to develop a plan and commitment from the
manufacturer to provide us with an accurate shipment schedule for the electric meters.
