6.2 Superintendents Report4--FURNITURE -AND- THINGS To: Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission From: Tim Dalton, Multipurpose Facility Superintendent Date: June 10, 2024 Subject: Facility Update HS Season Attendance and Revenue Summary Memorandum Included you will find the attendance and revenue summary for the Elk River High School regular season hockey games held at the FT Center during the 2023-2024 season. New this season, we implemented online ticketing, a significant upgrade which reduced game operations staff costs markedly. The per game minimum paid by the district for each game event UV and Varsity games) for 23-24 season was $1,600 per game. Game revenues over the minimum amount are divided equally between the facility and the district. For the 22-23 season this amount was $1,400 per game. For many seasons previous, the minimum amount was $900 per game. Rising operational costs and lower High School game attendance has reduced the amount of game revenues. Often individual game admission revenues do not cover the operational costs the facility incurs facilitating the game, hence the increases in the game minimum. Rivers Edge Concerts/Ice Deck We are excited to now have a functional 31 x 25 ft. portable ice deck surface. It will allow us to host all the Rivers Edge Concerts in the Cornerstone Arena in the event of inclement weather. The ice deck allows bands to perform on the ice surface while spectators sit in the Cornerstone arena stands. Utilizing the stands for seating eliminates the need for patrons to bring their own chairs. We are excited to have this quick change capability; we can completely install the ice desk for an event in about one -hour. The deck may also be utilized in the Kiser Arena and creates many more non -ice options for our arenas. Additional ice deck tiles may be purchased in the future to expand the deck to cover the entire ice surface if desired. Office Realignment The front office area has undergone changes with cubicles and workstations added to accommodate the Senior Programs Staff. This move allows the Senior Programs Staff to be more readily accessible for Senior Program customer service needs. In addition, it creates a more centralized area for building staff, allowing for improved staff communication and collaboration. The former Senior Programs Office in the fieldhouse has been converted to a rentable conference room space. Thumbs UP Partnership We continue to meet with Thumbs Up exploring options for an afterschool youth program housed in the FT Center starting Fall of 2024. Thumbs Up is a local foundation that provides a variety of mental health services and resources for the Elk River Area community. Currently, we are discussing a collaborative program that would result in an afterschool option for high school and middle school youth Monday through Thursday afterschool. As we continue to develop the concept and bring together resources to support the program, we will have more detailed information to share with the Commission and City Council. Spring Breakaway Bash On the weekend of May 10-11, we hosted our first Breakaway Bash Hockey Jamboree. The Breakaway Hockey League is a regional recreational hockey league operated by the FT Center. This new weekend hockey event was held exclusively at the FT Center and included 17 games at our facility, which bought many families and fans to watch their favorite young players. The spectators attending resulted in a busy weekend at the concession stand with $2,810 in weekend concession sales that would not have occurred without the Breakaway event. The Breakaway Bash was an all-round success, and we plan to continue to include the Bash event in all future Breakaway league schedules. Spring Makers Market On Saturday May 4, we hosted our 2024 Spring Makers Market. This year we saw a nice increase in vendors participating with 69 vendor spaces sold, up from 38 in 2023. We were also saw an uptick in market attendees, which pleased our vendors. Of the three markets we facilitate, the Spring Market has historically been the least popular, we are encouraged to see the spring market begin to draw more vendors and shoppers. Rental Customer Feedback We have again received very complimentary feedback from recent facility users. Examples of those emails are included with this report. Social Media Reports Attached is the FT Center Social Media Report for April 2024. Upcoming Events Included is a listing of events scheduled in the FT Center for the upcoming months. Everything was perfect with the room! And the employee on duty, was super helpful! I apologize though, I think there was 1 or 2 helium balloons that flew up to the ceiling. But otherwise, everything was great! I will see if I can find some pictures == Thank you again!! Subject: RE: Accurate Home Care 4/25 Half -day Meeting Hello! Our meeting went very well, and everyone loved the venue, including our leadership team. We're discussing winter dates for another team building meeting. I'll reach out once we have that date in mind and see what your availability is. The only hiccup was losing Wi-Fi around 10am and having to use our hotspot to present for a few minutes. Other than that, everything was perfect. Thank you for all your assistance and will talk soon. Subject: Re: Birthday Party 2/8/2024 Hi! It was my 2nd time using it for my daughter's birthday! We love the space, and you make it so easy! I so appreciate being able to use it for friends and family! Subject: RE: Follow up to room rental last week Good morning, We were very grateful for your accommodations at Furniture and Things. You were able to jump in during the count- down 30 minutes when technology didn't go as planned. Directional signs were great. I think next time we will be doing a larger room just given the number in attendance/venders. I appreciate your communication through it all. Thank you. Subject: Re: Private ice B-Day Party on Saturday, May 11 Payment all taken care of. The party was fun, and the kids had a blast! Thanks! Subject: Re: Your party this weekend Hi! It was a great party! The kids had fun and I think everyone else did too! I'll send you our photos and you can absolutely use them if you'd like!
