DISCUSSION:
In July, locators processed 412 locate tickets. These consisted of 347 normal tickets, 2
emergency tickets, 39 updated tickets, 8 cancellations, 10 meets, 1 boundary survey, 2
corrections, and 3 non -excavations. This resulted in a 3.7% decrease in tickets from the
previous month and a 30.9% decrease from the prior July.
Electrical technicians completed 513 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
addressed customer meter issues and any off-peak concerns.
• The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) residential water meters and residential
electric meters continue to be installed in new services. The electrical technicians have
been busy changing out our Automated Meter Reading meters to AMI around the
system and recently completed the meter installations at several different apartment
buildings. The decision was made to discontinue TKDA's inspection services as of August
1.
• For the month of July, staff did not run generators at the power plant.
We received two bids for the East substation power transformer at the August 1 bid
opening. We received multiple quotes for the 115kV switch ranging from $12,047 to
$18,795 and will be ordering the Southern States ($17,963) unit. We also received two
quotes for the 115kV Circuit Breaker: Siemens for $114,200 and GE for $168,825. We
are ordering the Siemens unit. DGR is reviewing grading plans, and we expect to start
work on the site this fall. These are all budgeted project items for the East substation.
• Connexus Energy utilized their emergency feeder tie at our Waco, Bank 2 substation
from July 23 to 25. They experienced a fault on one of their reclosers at their Big Lake
substation that resulted in a fire.
• Our monthly peak was 69.97 MW on July 31 at 2:47pm.
