A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Disbanding the Elk
River Library Board.
WHEREAS, The Elk River Public Library Board was established to oversee the physical
facility, outside grounds and to promote the best possible use of library resources; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, the Library Board played a key role in the review and planning for a
newly constructed library; and
WHEREAS, the Board annually reviewed the Library Budget and made recommendations
for capital improvements and supplementary materials and equipment; and
WHEREAS, at the July 2024 Regular Meeting of the Elk River Library Board, the board
unanimously voted to recommend the disbanding of the Library Board citing the Board had
served its purpose and library and city staff have well positioned the library to serve the
I needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, Library Board Members felt they could better support the library by other
means including as members of the Friends of the Library or volunteering directly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River, Minnesota, as follows: that the Elk River Public Library Board discontinue their
service by disbanding the board.
