ORDINANCE 90 - 39
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 900.08 - DEFINITIONS
The City Council of the City of Elk River does ordain as
follows:
Section 1. That Section 900.08 of the City of Elk River
Code of Ordinances titled "Definitions" be amended to read as
follows:
APARTMENT. A building other than a hotel or motel
containing four or more dwelling units which have primary
entrances from the same common hallways.
TRAILER, TEMPORARY.A trailer or mobile home used for no
more than six months as a temporary form of residential
dwelling on a lot where a house is being constructed.
Temporary trailers may be used in agricultural and single
family residential districts, only fOllowing the receipt
of a conditional use permit.

TOWNHOUSE. A dwelling unit which is part of the
multifamily dwelling whose units are attached horizontally
by a series of common or party walls. A townhouse is
attached to its own foundation; contains no independent
dwellings above or below and has a private entrance at
ground level.
Section 2. That Section 900.08 of the City of Elk River
Code of Ordinances titled "Definitions" be amended to add:
~OVERNMENTAL BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES. Any building,
structure, or facility for the purpose of a facility
serving certain governmental functions. These uses are
intended to include uses that are supportive of
governmental functions such as public works facilities,
correctional facilities, and waste handling or processing
facili ties. These uses are intended to be distinguished
from "governmental offices" and "essential services.1I
GOVERNijENTAL OFFICES. Any facility, building, and
structure for the purpose of providing governmental
services to the general public. Uses intended are
generally compatible with office and residential uses and
include city offices, county offices, libraries, and post
offices. These uses are intended for the direct provision
of governmental services to the public as distinguished
from governmental buildings and facilities.

in full force from and after the date of publication.
