Introduction
The Elk River Fire Department is requesting Council approval to advertise for paid on-call firefighters.
One firefighter resigned from the department and another firefighter, Dennis Anderson, is retiring after
21 years of service. I would like to thank Dennis Anderson for his dedication to the Elk River Fire
Department. With this resignation and retirement, I would like Council approval to begin the process of
finding replacement fuefighters.
Discussion
I anticipate the hiring process of the new firefighters to take approximately three months with the
screening of applications, interviewing of potential applicants, returning to the Council with the names of
potential candidates, fuefighter physicals, and stress tests.
Financial Impact
Minimum requirements of fuefighter 1 and fust responder training - $2,000.00

It is requested that the Mayor and City Council authorize the advertising of paid on-call fuefighters for
the Elk River Fire Department.
