Approving Acquisition of Real Property from the City of Elk River— East
Substation
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve Resolution No. 24-11
BACKGROUND:
On August 27, 2024, the City Council approved a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) authorizing
construction of an electrical substation on Lot 1, Block 1, Natures Edge Business Center Third
Addition. The site is currently owned by the City but has been planned for use as an Elk River
Municipal Utilities (ERMU) substation since its acquisition by the City. The City's CUP approval
requires ERMU to assume ownership of the parcel, as it is not the City's desire to own a
substation.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council will review a resolution approving the conveyance of the lot to ERMU at their
October 7 council meeting. If approved by the Council, the Commission will need to approve
the attached resolution conveying the lot for the development of ERMU's East substation.
