Approve, by motion, a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety from June 15, 2024,
through June 30, 2025, for overtime traffic enforcement.
Background/Discussion
Sergeant Windels applied for a grant through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for $50,000 for
overtime traffic enforcement. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety approved his application and
awarded the Elk River Police Department $100,000.

A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Authorizing
Execution of a Grant Agreement for the Safe Road Zone grant program
WHEREAS, Be it resolved that the City of Elk River, on behalf of its police department,
enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for overtime
traffic enforcement during the period from June 15, 2024 through June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, The City of Elk River Police Captain, Darren McKernan, is hereby
authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the
project on behalf of the City of Elk River Police Department and to be the fiscal agent and
administer the grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River, Minnesota., as follows: Accepts the Safe Road Zone grant and authorizes the
execution of the agreement.
