Hire Police Officer Magnuson

Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Brandon Magnuson to the position of police officer effective July 8, 2024.
Background/Discussion
Due to recent retirements, we have been recruiting police officer candidates on an ongoing basis. Our
process has been to interview qualified candidates as applications are received. Following interviews,
background check, physical and psychological testing, we recommend Brandon Magnuson for one of our
vacant positions.
Mr. Magnuson has an associates degree in law enforcement and has been working as a reserve deputy for
Wright County and as a security officer for Per Mar Security.
Mr. Magnuson will start at pay step 2 of the LELS Local 231 contract. All pay and benefits will be consistent
with union contract and city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
