Approve, by motion, the hiring of Jill Knutson to the position of accountant effective August 26, 2024.
Background/Discussion
We went to market to fill our recently vacated accountant position. We received 44 applications and
interviewed five candidates. Following second interviews and background and reference checks, we
recommend Jill Knutson for the position.
Ms. Knutson holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and has her CPA. She has worked as a government
auditor for the past four years, working her way up to senior government audit associate for Abdo. She has
been leading the team that handles the audit for Elk River Municipal Utilities.
Ms. Knutson will start earning a salary of $85,000 on an annual basis. On August 26, 2025, she will be eligible
for a pay increase, based on satisfactory performance, to step B of pay grade 7E. All other pay and benefits
will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
